
ABOUT
João is a Portuguese Costume Designer based between Lisbon and London.
​
He began his journey studying Costume Design at the Circus School of Lisbon, followed by Fashion Design at Magestil. After freelancing for a while, he moved to the UK to further his education in Fashion and Textile Design at the University of Southampton, Winchester School of Art.
Currently, João works as a Fashion Designer for Go With The Wind, as a Wardrobe Technician and Casual Assistant Costume Supervisor at the Royal Opera House, bringing over a decade of expertise in tailoring, styling, and costume design.









His experience includes working as a Costume Maker for Phil Reynolds, contributing to international productions, and as a Costume Maker / Assistant at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, where he adapted costumes for new productions with precision and creativity.

At Ted Baker, João refined his skills as both an Assistant Womenswear Fashion Designer and a Formal Wear Specialist/Tailor. His earlier work as a Freelance Fashion Designer for Teen Girls in Lisbon allowed him to dive into trend research, creating youthful, dynamic collections.

As a Freelance Stylist and Producer, João curated captivating looks for photoshoots, collaborating closely with models and photographers to bring bold visual stories to life.

He is excited to continue developing his career as a Costume Designer, Costume Supervisor, and Stylist, always driven by a passion for creativity and detail.
